About the role
PeopleSource Solutions is proud to represent an exciting on-site opportunity for an experienced Buyer/Planner within a high-performing Supply Chain team in Tinley Park, IL. This is a full-time, on-site role within the electronics and aerospace manufacturing sector. You will be responsible for planning production builds to align with sales forecasts and procuring materials required to support manufacturing operations while maintaining optimal inventory levels. The ideal candidate ensures materials are available to meet production schedules, customer delivery requirements, and inventory objectives, working closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Receiving, and Suppliers to drive operational excellence.
Key responsibilities
You will process orders and react to demand changes through an ERP system, and develop new lower-cost global sources along with other cost reduction opportunities. You will negotiate, benchmark, and manage supplier agreements while developing and maintaining production schedules based on customer demand, inventory levels, and manufacturing capacity. You will monitor production progress and adjust schedules to minimize shortages and maximize on-time delivery, maintain accurate purchasing records and ERP data, and proactively identify and mitigate supply risks including extended lead times, obsolescence concerns, and supplier constraints. Additional responsibilities include supporting New Product Introduction activities, reviewing and supporting inventory reduction plans, and traveling to supplier sites to support audits, onboarding, and resolution of critical issues.
Required skills
You will bring a minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive purchasing experience, with strong technical knowledge of electronics manufacturing services including electronic components, PCB fabrication processes, and the ability to read technical schematics. Strong working knowledge of ERP systems, specifically INFOR, and advanced Excel proficiency are required. You must demonstrate exceptional negotiation, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills, along with experience working with international suppliers, contract manufacturers, and global electronics supply chain and component distribution networks. Familiarity with ISO-9001, AS-9100, and IPC requirements is also required. A BA/BS in Business, Engineering, or Supply Chain, or equivalent experience, is expected.
Experience required
Minimum 3-5 years progressive purchasing experience in electronics manufacturing with strong technical knowledge of electronic components, PCB fabrication, and ERP systems. BA/BS in Business, Engineering, or Supply Chain (or equivalent experience).
