About the role

PeopleSource Solutions is recruiting an experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent for a full-time, on-site opportunity based in Winston-Salem, NC. In this role, you will schedule, coordinate, and provide overall supervision and control on site, including field employees' activities, jobsite deliveries, vendor and supplier relations, subcontractor control, and overall site planning and management. You will serve as the primary point of accountability for keeping projects on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with contract and safety requirements. This is a hands-on leadership position suited for a construction professional who thrives in a fast-paced, field-based environment.

Key responsibilities

You will plan and supervise the activities of all on-site employees and field workers, including determining means and methods of construction, manpower requirements, material needs, and equipment needs. You will schedule and coordinate all work to ensure full compliance with contract requirements and the overall project schedule, while providing detailed weekly look-ahead scheduling. You will verify that all delivered materials conform to approved submittal data and contract requirements, and provide all on-site quality control including coordinating testing, conducting pre-work meetings, and documenting work quality. You will maintain all for-construction and as-built drawings throughout the project, monitor employee and subcontractor compliance with safety program requirements, and maintain official daily reports and OSHA-required documentation logs, including storm water inspections.

Required skills

The ideal candidate brings a minimum of four years of supervisory experience in similar facility construction, along with a two-year construction-related degree or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience. You must have an advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control, and OSHA compliance, and OSHA 30-hour training is required. Proficiency in reading and interpreting plans, specifications, and technical drawings is essential, as is the ability to effectively supervise and control large groups. You must hold a valid driver's license with no encumbrances and be comfortable using a computer, iPad, and iPhone in a field environment.

Experience required

Four years supervisory experience in similar facility construction. Two-year construction-related degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or experience. Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control, OSHA compliance (30 HR training required), and ability to control and supervise large groups.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Vista Management software will be at a distinct advantage. Experience maintaining liaison with designers, owners, building officials, and operations management across complex commercial projects is highly desirable. A demonstrated track record of managing subcontractor relationships, resolving field-generated RFIs, and maintaining client satisfaction throughout a project lifecycle will strengthen your candidacy.
